So yeah, I just bought this. Da fuck is it, you might axe? Well l’ll tell ya what it is - it’s a V959 RC Future Battleship Spy Drone Quadcopter, complete with a high def “DV Spy Camera” mounted on its belly. Could you just sqwee?
Ever since the $300 A.R. Drone came out a couple years ago, I’ve REALLY wanted one, but I just couldn’t justify spending that much money on a “toy”. This little guy, however, was only $85 with shipping. Granted, it isn’t as wicked sick as the A.R. Drone, but after some research and a few hours of YouTube videos, I think I made the right choice.
Another major inspiration for this little quadcopter drone, besides Andy Ihnotko’s AR Drone demo on an old episode of MacBreak Weekly, came from my new favorite geek author, Daniel Suarez, who wrote the incredible “Daemon”, Freedom TM” and “Kill Decision”. The whole pretense of Kill Decision was about military and enemy info gathering and spying using human controlled and autonomous drones. It’s amazing how much of Suarez’s “fiction” is quickly becoming reality.
